Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Linux System Administrator to join our growing team at Tabcomm Co. In this critical role, you will be the primary expert responsible for the architecture, security, stability, and performance of our core business infrastructure.
Your deep expertise will be focused on managing our Ubuntu server environment, administering our mission-critical Odoo ERP platform, and ensuring the highest levels of cybersecurity across all systems. Key Responsibilities
Ubuntu Linux System Administration:
- Architect, deploy, configure, harden, and maintain a large fleet of Ubuntu LTS servers (20.04, 22.04).
- Perform advanced system management via command-line interface (CLI).
- Automate repetitive tasks and deployments using Bash scripting, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Manage kernel tuning, performance monitoring, and capacity planning.
- Configure and manage LAMP/LEMP stacks, DNS (BIND), email (Postfix/Dovecot), and other core services.
Virtualmin/Webmin Management:
- Administer and maintain the Virtualmin control panel for hosting multiple websites and web applications.
- Manage user accounts, domains, databases, and email services through Virtualmin.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Apache/Nginx, PHP, and MySQL/MariaDB within the Virtualmin environment.
- Implement best practices for securing the Virtualmin installation and the services it manages.
Odoo Administration & Expertise:
- Perform end-to-end administration of Odoo instances (community and enterprise editions), including installation, configuration, upgrading, and maintenance.
- Manage Odoo modules, user permissions, and workflows.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Odoo performance issues, often in collaboration with development teams.
- Implement and manage automated backups and disaster recovery plans specifically for Odoo databases and filestore.
- Integrate Odoo with other internal and external systems.
Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security:
- Harden all systems against intrusion by implementing industry-standard security practices (firewalls, fail2ban, SSH key authentication, etc.).
- Configure and manage network security using UFW/iptables.
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
- Monitor systems for suspicious activity using tools like log analyzers (e.g., Logwatch, Graylog) and intrusion detection systems (e.g., AIDE, Wazuh).
- Develop, document, and execute incident response procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant security frameworks and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA if applicable).
Backup, Disaster Recovery, and High Availability:
- Design, implement, and regularly test comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies for all critical systems.
- Manage and verify backups for servers, websites, and Odoo databases.
- Experience with designing for high availability and load balancing is a significant plus.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in Linux system administration.
- Minimum of 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience with Ubuntu Server in a production environment.
- Minimum of 3+ years of practical experience administering servers via Virtualmin/Webmin.
- Minimum of 3+ years of direct hands-on experience as an Odoo system administrator (managing installations, upgrades, and modules).
- Proven and demonstrable experience in implementing cybersecurity measures for Linux servers.
- Expert-level knowledge of core internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, HTTP/S) and network security.
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), Ubuntu Certified Professional, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, Odoo Certification).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
